The Hippo-Not-Amus

by Tony & Jan Payne (2004, Orchard Books, 16.95/hardback)
[See Discounts and Free Shipping option at bottom of page]

Portly the Hippo didn't ask to be a hippopotamus, and he's starting to find it kind of boring. He embarks on a journey to find just the right kind of animal to be. Portly meets all kinds of creatures—from a rhinoceros, to a bat, to an elephant—and tries to do everything they do, with surprising and funny outcomes. Color. Grades K-3. [9.5” x 11”...32 pages]

[See Discounts and Free Shipping option at bottom of page]

This book uses both a boy’s and a girl’s point of view to celebrate the joys of self-esteem. It teaches that whether you get an answer wrong in school, or are picked last for a team, what’s most important is liking yourself because you are you! Color. Grades K-3. [10” x 8.5”...32 pages]

ABC I Like Me!

by Nancy Carlson (1997, Puffin, 6.99)
[See Discounts and Free Shipping option at bottom of page]

Warm, simple words and gentle, appealing illustrations strengthen and support a young child’s self-esteem. by Lauren Payne & Claudia Rohling (1994, Free Spirit, 16.95)
[See Discounts and Free Shipping option at bottom of page]

A companion to the children's picture book, Just Because I Am (9.95), this Leader's Guide is really a complete introductory course on self-esteem for young children. The 13 "Special Home Handouts" are especially well done. These handouts encourage parents to continue affirming their children's feelings, needs, and growing self-awareness. Elementary grades. You will love the handouts. [8.5” x 11”...51 pages]

The animals are having a party, and, tired of their normal appearances, they all want to look special for the big event. Clever die-cuts offer tantalizing glimpses of each animal's dream transformation. They are funny sights indeed. In the end all the animals friends agree that they like one another just the way they are. [8.5” x 11.5”...28 pages]

As he plays with his woodland friends, each special and unique, Sassafras comes to discover that he, too, has a rare and “special gift.” Sassafras discovers that all things have something that makes them special, and stinkiness is what makes skunks special. Color. Grades K-3. [8” x 10”...32 pages]

We're best known for two things... The way we pack (very carefully); and the way we ship (very quickly).

We take book safety seriously... Your books will be shrink-wrapped on a heavy piece of cardboard, and placed in a heavy-duty box or a padded mailing bag (depending on the size of your order). Our customers tell us... That we are pretty good at what we do. And we ought to be! We've been dispatching books to all corners of the planet since 1978. We're one of those old-fashioned companies with real toll-free telephones—and real people to answer them. It will not be an accident that your books will arrive in perfect condition. We make sure they will.
