Three dead after weather-related accident on I-40 shuts down interstate

Heavy fire and smoke are visible at the scene of a fatal accident on Interstate 40 near Williams on Thursday.

Interstate 40 westbound near Williams remained closed Friday as DPS troopers continued to investigate a fatal collision that killed three and involved multiple vehicles, including tractor-trailers.

The second major snowstorm in as many weeks brought significant travel issues to several northern Arizona routes, with the Arizona Department of Transportation recommending that motorists avoid travel if at all possible.
