X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, has threatened to sue researchers who documented an increase in hate speech on the site since it was purchased last year by Elon Musk.

The word “unalive� to refer to death by suicide or homicide was coined by social media users as a way to fool algorithms on sites and apps that censor posts containing violent content.
