Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark says his still-evolving conference remains committed to having a championship game even as the College Football Playoff expands from four to 12 teams after this season. Yormark says the game creates a wonderful narrative for the conference. Seventh-ranked Texas, the Big 12's last hope to get into the final four-team version of the playoffs, played No. 19 Oklahoma State on Saturday. The league has a contract for the title game at AT&T Stadium through 2031. Texas and Oklahoma are going to the SEC next season when the Big 12 grows to 16 teams with four current Pac-12 members.

Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson had retired from amateur wrestling and was focused on becoming a World Wrestling Entertainment superstar. But the itch to entertain on the mat never left him. Now, he's returned to amateur wrestling and is making a push to go to the Paris Olympics while still training for WWE. A key event for Steveson will be the Final X on Saturday at the Prudential Center.

Penn State’s Aaron Brooks and Carter Starocci each won their third consecutive individual titles to help the Nittany Lions to back-to-back team crowns, and Cornell’s Yianni Diakomihalis won his fourth title at the NCAA wrestling championships. Brooks beat Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen 7-2 in the 184-pound finals and Starocci pinned Mikey Labriola of Nebraska in the first round at 174. Diakomihalis beat Ohio State’s Sammy Sasso 4-2 to win the 149-pound crown.

Purdue’s Matt Ramos ended Iowa star Spencer Lee’s chase for four national titles with a pin in the closing seconds of their semifinal match on Friday night. That will leave Cornell’s Yianni Diakomihalis as the only wrestler still in contention for a fourth Division I title on Saturday. He defeated Penn State’s Shayne Van Ness 8-3 in his semifinal match at 149 pounds.

Iowa 125-pounder Spencer Lee has a chance to win his fourth national title this weekend at the NCAA wrestling championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He would join an exclusive club with names that he can recite in just a few seconds.
