Competing at Aguila Golf Course in south Phoenix on Monday and Tuesday, the Northland Prep Academy golf team placed 10th in the Division III state championships.
The 10th-place finish, with a team score of 644, surpassed the Spartans' 13th-place finish (684) in 2024 and 11th-place finish (652) in 2023 for the school's best result since 2022.
Senior Ashton McCain led the way for the Spartans, tying for 15th place by shooting 152 across the two-day championship. McCain's finish was his third top 25 result at state during his career at Northland Prep, after tying for eighth in 2024 and tying for 21st in 2023.Â
Theetut Kraisorn tied for 38th, shooting 160 across the two days with a pair of 80s as he improved on a 52nd-place finish in 2024 and a 69th-place finish in 2023. Kantatut Kraisorn tied for 40th, shooting a 161, and Cole Zeglin placed 79th with a 179. Simon Pickup and Finnegan Miller also competed for the Spartans, each playing a single round. Pickup shot an 85 on Monday and Miller shot a 110 on Tuesday.
McCain's second-round score of 75 led the way for the Spartans, with Kantatut Kraisorn's first-round score of 76 second on the team for a single-round score.
