US, China officials continue negotiation to ease trade conflict

GENEVA � China Vice Premier He Lifeng resumed talks with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Saturday in Geneva in a tentative first step toward defusing a trade war.

Bessent and He were meeting in Geneva after weeks of growing tension in which duties on goods imports between the world's two largest economies have soared far beyond 100%.
