Northern Arizona University (NAU) announced Friday morning that its Flagstaff campus would be closed that day due to the winter storm.
The announcement cited predictions of continued snowfall and winds from the National Weather Service (NWS) and that travel is discouraged. NWS has issued a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. on Friday, March 14, through 5 a.m. Saturday. It is predicting an additional 4-6 six inches of snow in Flagstaff during that time.
NAU students are currently on spring break.
The closure only affects NAU's Flagstaff Mountain Campus. Students, faculty and staff at other locations should plan for regular working hours, as should employees scheduled for remote work and designated essential employees.
"The safety of our community is a priority, and we ask that everyone take care in traversing campus as the facilities crews work to keep up with the snow-clearing effort," according to a campus-wide email announcing the closure.

Mountain Line sent a notice Friday morning that its services were currently running as scheduled, though they could be impacted by road conditions. The transit provider said that road conditions meant that two stops along Route 10 (Stops 9 and 10 on Forest Meadows) are closed and that riders should instead use Stop 11 (University and Forest Meadows) or Stop 12 (Woodlands Village and University).
Updates to Mountain Line's services will be posted on its social media and the Tranist app.
