Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly introduced two new pieces of legislation in the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, aiming to reverse staffing cuts to the U.S. Forest Service and National Park Service.
The “Save Our Forests Act� and “Protect Our Parks Act� would direct the Secretary of Agriculture and Secretary of Interior to rehire any employees fired between Feb. 4-Feb. 25, and to increase staffing as necessary to “sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of National Forest System land� and “ensure that the units of the National Park System are fully staffed to ensure visitor safety and enjoyment.�
