A Hullabaloo of a good time: eclectic Flagstaff festival celebrates 16th year

Giant puppets parading down the streets? It will not be the first time, nor will it be the last. Few events are as emblematic of Flagstaff as the annual summer Hullabaloo. Now, after 16 years and 10 Best of Flagstaff awards, the weekend promises a festival as unique as its name.

With a broad swath of activities, explaining what Hullabaloo is can be a bit of a challenge. It is a live music show, but it is also a circus performance. There is a bicycle parade and then there are food stands. Residents and former residents deck themselves out in their loudest attire. All in all, the best way to describe Hullabaloo may be one big community party.
