Local Odyssey of the Mind Team Makes Worlds

De Miguel Elementary School's Odyssey of the Mind team stands near the school's teacher's lounge with some of their props Thursday afternoon. The local team of 4th and 5th graders won their division at state and will be heading to Michigan for the World Championships.

After winning their category in the state competition earlier this month, DeMiguel Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind classics team is preparing to compete at the world championships in Michigan.

The team has been practicing weekly since October, reviewing their skit and answering sample questions in the spontaneous category to prepare for competitions. It has seven members, the maximum allowed for an OM team.

The newly painted pink details adorning a single storefront on East Aspen Avenue mean one thing: Downtown Flagstaff now has its very own self-serve frozen yogurt shop.

YOGÆRT opened its doors February 17, and owner Samantha DeWarf said it has been a family business from the start.
