1925: Plans have been worked out for the completion of organization of the Flagstaff Country club and laying out the proposed new golf links. The details are interesting and are given fully in a circular this week sent by President E.A. Haight and Secretary V.S. McGuire to those it is believed may wish to become members. The circular says, in part: Sufficient enthusiasm appears to have been shown by some of the Flagstaff men to warrant the golf committee in now signing up members of the club. The work that has been done, and the plans made by various committees are, briefly, as follows: The committee appointed to find suitable grounds has approved the location north and east of the old town reservoir and have received an estimate covering the approximate cost of building a suitable golf course -- which will be about $1,500. To make the golf club possible it will be necessary to secure at least 50 active members, who will take out active membership certificates, which will entitle the members and any ladies in their immediate families the privileges of the club. These membership certificates will cost charter members $35 and will be transferable. After 90 days from the completion of the organization of the club and golf grounds, a membership certificate will cost $50. Dues will be $20 yearly.
