Fire managers with the Arizona State Department of Forestry and Fire Management and Coconino National Forest said they were planning to take advantage of current weather conditions and begin work on a highly visible prescribed burn project southwest of Flagstaff that started Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The Crater Sinks (West Fork) project is located 8 miles west of Kachina Village, and roughly 12 miles southwest of Flagstaff. The broadcast maintenance burn, which is projected to take two days, is about 1,700 acres including 950 of state land and around 750 acres of Coconino National Forest land.
