Protesters challenge renewed hauling of uranium from Pinyon Plain Mine

Haul No! Rally

A protest organized by the group Haul No! forms outside Flagstaff City Hall at the corner of Humphreys Street and Route 66 on Monday.

Protesters gathered outside Flagstaff City Hall on Monday afternoon to speak up against the transportation of uranium ore from the Pinyon Plain Mine near the Grand Canyon.

Organized by the anti-nuclear group Haul No!, the protest came a week and a half after the Navajo Nation reached a new agreement with mine operator Energy Fuels allowing hauling of uranium across Navajo lands.

Protesters with the group Haul No! gathered outside Flagstaff City Hall on Monday to show their opposition to uranium hauling from the Pinyon Plain Mine. The haul route from the mine to a mill in southern Utah passes close to Flagstaff, as well as to other communities on the Navajo Nation and Hopi Reservation.
