Celebrating 15 years, Flagstaff Oktoberfest returns to Wheeler Park this Saturday

The annual Flagstaff Oktoberfest is set for this Saturday, October 5. Wheeler Park will be packed for the German-themed celebration, where visitors can enjoy a selection of beer, food, games and prizes. The 15th anniversary of Flagstaff’s fall-favorite event will be one you won’t want to miss.

The Bavarian festival originated in Munich, Germany, and was first celebrated on October 12, 1810, for the marriage of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Their celebration went on for an entire week and included great feasts and music, with horse racing as the grand finale. The newlyweds, along with their guest list (the entire city of Munich), agreed that this festival was so fantastic it should be an annual event, which we now know as Oktoberfest.
