Spotlight on Climate: Uncovering the compounding costs of climate change

Spotlight Logo

Is climate change already affecting our economy, or is that just some future thing? If it is already affecting our national economy, how big is that impact? …and closer to home, how do any such effects impact your pocketbook? …your rental costs? …your home cooling costs? …your costs of home insurance? …your trip to the grocery store? …your retirement plans? …the costs to your kids futures?

Scientific research (and this is not at all the same thing as ‘re-searching something on the internet) has shown quite clearly that climate change has sped up the pattern of extreme storms, drought, wildfire, flooding, and other climate disasters. Of course, these disasters have affected our national economy, since climate affects virtually everything.
