Coconino softball knocked out of state tournament

Doomed by a four-run fifth inning and unable to rally for the victory, the 11th-seeded Coconino Panthers fell 6-4 in the first round of the Conference 4A state softball tournament Saturday morning to the No. 6 Pueblo Magnet Warriors in Tucson.

With her team striking first with a run in the opening inning and later breaking a 1-1 tie with a run in the top of the fifth, Panthers starting pitcher Kaitlyn Snopek kept the Warriors off the board until the fourth inning. The sophomore, however, saw the Warriors take a 5-2 lead thanks to the big fifth inning.
