Local Roundup: Panthers bounce back from loss, tragedy

The Coconino Panthers baseball team regrouped from a tragedy that played a role in a loss to beat the Prescott Badgers in Prescott on Thursday, 5-3.

Reeling from the sudden death of a popular teacher, the Panthers struggled on the field Tuesday in a 5-3 home loss to the Badgers. With the help of a complete game from starting pitcher Luke Nelson on Thursday, however, the 4A Panthers were able to avoid the series sweep and hop right back into the win column over their Grand Canyon Region opponent.
