NORTHERN ARIZONA 30, EASTERN WASHINGTON 18

NAU football beats Eastern Washington at home to end regular season

NAU's Tommy Ellis

Northern Arizona's Tommy Ellis celebrates after making a tackle during a college football game against Eastern Washington on Saturday at the Walkup Skydome.

The Northern Arizona football team could only give itself a chance to keep its season going Saturday. There was no guarantee, even with a win, that the Lumberjacks would play beyond their regular-season finale against the Eastern Washington Eagles at the Walkup Skydome.

What the 21st-ranked Lumberjacks accomplished for certain, though, was a 30-18 win over the Eagles. The victory pushed Northern Arizona to a record of 8-4 (6-2 Big Sky) -- the best win total since 2013 -- and an undefeated, 5-0 home mark for the first time since 2015.

NAU Handoff

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks quarterback Ty Pennington (6) hands the ball off to Seth Cromwell (34) during a college football game against Eastern Washington on Saturday at the Walkup Skydome.
