NAU LUMBERJACKS FOOTBALL

NAU football visits Cal Poly Saturday seeking rare three-game win streak and playoff contention

J'Wan Evans

Northern Arizona's J'Wan Evans (25) returns a kick as Camden Haggard (42) blocks during a game against Weber State on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Walkup Skydome.

Coming from a perennial playoff team with consistent winning records at his last stop, when Brian Wright moved to become the coach of the Northern Arizona football team from Division II Pittsburg State, it has to be a bit difficult to celebrate some of the little accomplishments.

A three-game winning streak would have been no big deal for the Gorillas, or at some of Wright's former jobs before that. But with the Lumberjacks, the chance to have that run hasn’t come often in recent seasons.

NAU's Tommy Ellis

Northern Arizona's Tommy Ellis celebrates with the Red Rock Rivalry Trophy after the Lumberjacks defeated the Weber State Wildcats on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Walkup Skydome.

NAU's Ta'ir Brooks

Northern Arizona's Ta'ir Brooks (1) catches a touchdown pass during a college football game against Weber State on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Walkup Skydome.
