In order to return to the state championship game for the first time since 1989, the No. 1-seeded Coconino Panthers have a regular-season rematch standing in the way on Thursday.
The 14th-seeded Poston Butte Broncos knocked off the No. 10 Walden Grove Red Wolves, 3-2, on Tuesday night in Sahuarita for their third road victory of the 4A Conference tournament. After upsetting the No. 3 Paradise Honors Panthers, 6-3, in the opening round of the tournament back on May 3, the Broncos followed up with an 11-7 victory over the No. 6 Flagstaff Eagles in the game that began on May 6 at Flagstaff High School and concluded a day later at Sandra Day O'Connor High School in the north Valley.
